Jonny began a stonemasonry apprenticeship in 1984 with the Cambridge based firm Rattee and Kett. In the 10yrs with them he worked on Kings College Chapel, Trinity Gate and Westminster Abbey. Moving to Gloucestershire in the 90s he became Freelance and began to develop his carving skills.
Favouring the Abstract, Jonny combined his passions for form and music by producing his first pair of stone speakers in 1998. Since building these prototypes Jonny has steadily refined the process and now handcrafts these uniquely shaped speakers after hollowing out solid blocks of stone. Each pair is tuned to give a flat response with great stereo imaging.
In 1998 Jonny teamed up with ROCKWORX to run a small stonecarving workshop at Glastonbury Festival and due to the initial success this has now developed into a much larger workshop with a solar powered sound system powering Anderson Speakers creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere for people to enjoy.
In 2008 Jonny was asked by Woodchester Mansion to run training courses for the Building Craft College students and Get Into courses for the Princes Trust. This has now extended to Bath College students and The Princes Foundation Building Craft Apprentices. He also Assesses for Banker Masonry and Heritage Stonework qualifications through the CITB.
Since 2010 Jonny has been heavily involved with training at Dumfries House for both The Princes Foundation and The Princes Trust.
